Insulating Concrete Form Footings

Stregnth the purpose of footings is to keep your home from sinking into the ground. They bare on soil the stregnth is determined by the width of the footing then it goes down cone shape below there. One great thing about our footing is 24" wide as well as the inverted T shape with our concrete walls on top of the footing. It is like creasing a paper in half putting an edge onto it or similar to an I beam. With our concrete walls extending up the whole wall we actually bridge over any settlement that might happen underneath your home. Similar to how ICF homes are performing in California.

Water Drainage Even though you are on a hill or in wyoming (or in other areas) dont let builders tell you that you wont need waterproofings here. The moisture content in the ground is much higher then that inside your home. with differences in humidty and tempature you still can have moisture movement from the ground into your home. Insulating Concrete Construction always builds with some sort of waterproofing. And with that waterproofing comes a drain system. You can see at the bottom of the waterproofing we have a french drain either to daylight or a sump depending on your site plan.

Radon & Methane ventalation No matter where you build there is small to great chance of gases from the ground entering your home. Even if the gas is heavier then air it can often enter your home. It all depends on the humidty levels and tempatures on movement of gases that goes beyond gravitys pull on gases. At insulating Concrete Construction we put in passive radon ventalation systems either out the roof or to daylight again dependant on your site plan.

ICF Stem Wall or Crawl Space

Frost line depending on where you build in the country will depend on how deep your frost line level will be. Insulating concrete forms are perfect for building stem wall to get from your footing to grade. The stem wall is insulated, water proofed, and can easily atatch your floor system to the side shown in this picture or on top of the stem wall.

Insulated and Vapor barrier. The ICF walls perform tremoundously well see energy efficiency part of our website for further details. We also put an insulated vapor barrier. Insulating Concrete Construction uses a product called insultarp 1" rigid foam, aluminum reflective radiant barrier, and .2 mil vapor barrier one of the highest you can find. Keeping you and your crawl space free from moisture.

Insulating Concrete Form Basement

Non Air Dried most builders build basements with aluminum forms. This method is fast so fast that the concrete is cured by air. Meaning the set the forms up in one day pour the next day then the day after that they pull the aluminum forms off. By exposing the concrete to air so soon after you pour the wall wekans the concrete design mix by 18%. When you build with Insulating Concrete Forms the concrete becomes insulated and encapsulated allowing teh concrete to cure 10 times longer increasing the concretes design stregnth mix by as much as 30%.

No furring needed The nice thing about Insulating concrete forms is that they require no extra furring. Aluminum forms are pulled off then you have to atatch furring strips to atatch sheet rock to and create a space to run plumbing and electrical wire adding time and cost onto your home. On insulating concrete forms you have a poly propolene web where sheet rock or cabinents can atatch directly to it. It is even easy to find the places to screw into the wall as well. In the corner is one of these webs you put a tape measure up along the wall and every six inches along your measuring tape you will find a web to screw into.
